FUGAZI: In On The Kill Taker Vinyl LP
Fugazi's noisiest, angriest record — and arguably their breakthrough.
In On The Kill Taker (1993) is twelve songs of post-hardcore operating at full throttle. MacKaye and Picciotto's guitars scrape, seethe, and interlock across a rhythm section that never once lets up, and the sequencing is flawless — charging out of the gate before pulling the floor away with brutal precision. Originally recorded with Steve Albini before the band scrapped the sessions and re-cut everything at Inner Ear with Ted Niceley, the final album hits with the focus and ferocity of a band who knew exactly what they wanted. It debuted on the Billboard charts and topped both the NME and Melody Maker independent charts in the UK. Kurt Cobain was in the crowd. Atlantic Records offered them anything. They said no.
