METALLICA: Master Of Puppets Vinyl LP
The album that defined what heavy metal could be as a compositional form.
Master of Puppets (1986) is Metallica's third studio album and the record most often cited as their peak -- eight tracks averaging over five minutes each, built on interlocking riff structures, dynamic shifts, and a level of arrangement sophistication that had no precedent in metal. The title track runs over eight minutes and never wastes a second of it. Battery opens the album like a door kicked off its hinges. Orion is an instrumental that holds its own against anything in the catalogue. Recorded at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen with producer Flemming Rasmussen, it was the last album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who died in a tour bus accident in Sweden six months after its release. Certified 6x platinum in the US. Reissued on 180g vinyl via Blackened Recordings.
