Cause of Death (1990) saw Obituary recruit James Murphy on lead guitar and produce their most focused and dynamic record -- the riffs are slower and more deliberate than the debut's full-throttle attack, giving the record an almost doom-like weight while losing none of the Tampa death metal brutality. "Turned Inside Out" and "Circle of the Tyrants" (Celtic Frost cover) are standout tracks. Produced again by Scott Burns, remastered for this Real Gone Music pressing on grey and black splattered vinyl -- the second in their ongoing series of Obituary vinyl reissues.
