Aglio e Olio is a short, sharp, and shockingly fast return to the Beastie Boys' hardcore punk roots. Released in 1995 while the band was working on Hello Nasty, the EP was recorded in just a few days as the trio realized they had written too many hardcore songs for a hip-hop record. Clocking in at just over 11 minutes for the entire set, the tracks are a blistering homage to the 80s NYC hardcore scene they emerged from. It's loud, snotty, and remarkably tight, proving that even at the height of their global fame, Ad-Rock, MCA, and Mike D hadn't lost their ability to rip through a two-minute thrash anthem. A must-have for fans who appreciate the band's foundational punk DNA.
