DEFTONES: Diamond Eyes Vinyl LP
The comeback record that reminded everyone what Deftones were capable of.
Diamond Eyes (2010) was written and recorded under extraordinary circumstances -- bassist Chi Cheng had been left in a coma following a car accident in 2008, and the band channelled the grief and uncertainty into what became one of the most focused albums of their career. Reuniting with producer Nick Raskulinecz for the first time, Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham, and Frank Delgado -- with Sergio Vega stepping in on bass -- delivered ten tracks that move between explosive and weightless with total command. The title track, Royal, and Sextape hit different ends of the Deftones spectrum without ever feeling like they're from different bands. Widely regarded as their strongest work since White Pony.
