Death Party is a crucial, transitional 1983 EP from Los Angeles punk-blues pioneers The Gun Club. Recorded in New York City and produced by Blondie's Chris Stein, this release features a completely unique, one-off lineup assembled by erratic genius Jeffrey Lee Pierce. Joining Pierce are guitarist Jim Duckworth (Panther Burns), drummer Dee Pop (Bush Tetras), and legendary bassist Patricia Morrison (who would later join The Sisters of Mercy and The Damned). The result is a darker, heavier, and more distinctly post-punk/deathrock sound compared to their frenetic cowpunk roots.
