Cop And Speeder is the searing 1994 sophomore album from Portland alternative powerhouse Heatmiser, led by the legendary Elliott Smith and Neil Gust. While Smith would later achieve massive solo acclaim for his hushed, acoustic folk, this record captures his raw, electric, and deeply abrasive side. The band balances a heavy, distorted, post-hardcore sound reminiscent of Fugazi or Helmet with the intricate vocal harmonies and incredible melodic pop sensibilities that both Smith and Gust mastered.
