MELVINS: Bullhead Vinyl LP

The record that more or less invented sludge as a tempo.

Bullhead (1991) slows the Melvins' already-heavy sound down to a crawl, stretching riffs out to agonizing, hypnotic lengths. This is the blueprint sludge and stoner doom bands have been quoting for over three decades -- Buzz Osborne's guitar tone alone influenced an entire generation of heavy music. Essential listening for anyone tracing the roots of modern sludge metal.
