The debut album that turned Olivia Rodrigo into a global phenomenon overnight -- and held up as one of the most emotionally honest pop records of its era.
Sour (2021) channelled teenage heartbreak, jealousy, and disillusionment into a set of songs that cut through demographic lines immediately. From the raw alt-rock of "brutal" to the devastating piano ballad "drivers license" and the sarcastically upbeat "good 4 u," Rodrigo demonstrated a songwriting instinct and emotional directness that recalled the best of Taylor Swift and Paramore while being entirely her own.
