Often referred to as "Rancid 2000" to distinguish it from their 1993 debut, this second self-titled album is the band's fastest and most aggressive work. Moving away from the ska-inflected sounds of Life Won't Wait, this record features 22 tracks of blistering, high-octane hardcore punk. To celebrate its 25th Anniversary in 2025, a highly limited Purple Vinyl edition was produced. These anniversary pressings are often limited to small runs (reported as low as 500 copies for certain exclusive variants) and feature remastered audio that heightens the "paint-peeling" intensity of Matt Freeman's bass lines and Tim Armstrong's distinctive vocals.
