SHOT FROM BOTH SIDES: Photos of UK Punk Gigs 1981-86 Book

SHOT FROM BOTH SIDES: Photos of UK Punk Gigs 1981-86 is the debut book from Paul May, a collection of his live gig photography and personal memoirs documenting the UK punk scene from 1981 to 1986. The book chronologically charts the era, providing a unique "anti-history" that focuses on the diverse community, lesser-known bands, and the shared enthusiasm that defined DIY punk. It features hundreds of photos covering a wide range of subgenres, from Anti Nowhere League and Discharge to American hardcore bands like Black Flag and anarcho-punks like Crass. Each section includes a recap of historic/political events, personal anecdotes from various figures, and a treasure trove of ephemera like flyers, set lists, and unseen sketches, all while embodying the fanzine spirit of sharing and participation. The book offers a rare view of punk's evolution in sound and fashion during the early to mid-80s.
