TRANSPLANTS: Transplants Vinyl LP
The debut from the L.A. punk-rap supergroup that nobody saw coming -- and nobody forgot.
Transplants (2002) is Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Travis Barker (Blink-182), and Skinhead Rob colliding in Armstrong's basement with Pro Tools, punk guitars, hip-hop beats, and absolutely zero compromise. Recorded over two years with a cast of guests including Davey Havok, Lars Frederiksen, Brody Dalle, and Matt Freeman, it fuses the raw energy of Hellcat-era punk with streetwise rap delivery in a way that felt genuinely dangerous at the time. Diamonds and Guns and Tall Cans in the Air became anthems; California Babylon landed on Tony Hawk's Underground. Barker tracked the drums in four hours. None of it sounds like it was made in a basement.
