About this release
10-song EP housed in a Crass-style 12-panel poster foldout sleeve. In the parched wasteland of these tumultuous times, the extreme music underground finds itself staggering across a scorched landscape, desperately begging for anything to quench its insatiable thirst. Fortunately, the omens are favorable. The mash tun is once again full. The monastery bells are once again ringing. The chalices overflow. In other words, conditions are perfect for a new Trappist record. Back in 2022, Brothers Vera, Harkins & Dodge once again donned their monastic robes, fired up the blast furnace, and descended into the abbey to begin brewing another batch of their uniquely punishing sonic concoction. A new EP was clearly warranted, and the Brothers executed the task with righteous fury. The songwriting was savage. The performances were airtight. The recording was flawless. By all reasonable measures, these were ten of the most earth-shattering, face-melting, genre-demolishing songs ever birthed. And yet, something was missing. Then, like a divine revelation, the answer revealed itself: fermentation. The Brothers did what any responsible Trappist monks would do with ten otherwise perfect songs: they sealed them in a wooden cask on undisclosed holy ground, where they would remain undisturbed for four long years. There, the riffs fermented. The rhythms matured. The guttural vocals developed character. In 2026, with the Brothers' blessing, Tankcrimes CEO Scotty Heath finally tapped the keg. What emerged was not merely hardcore. It was not merely metal. It was something more complex: aggressive yet intricate, savage yet surprisingly nuanced, with the rough-hewn character of an ancient farmhouse ale and the punishing aftertaste of being kicked down a flight of concrete stairs by a pissed-off padre. It was time. The result is Gutter Monks — a barrel-aged blast of fury, fermentation, and faith. Pre-order: Expected to ship the week of December 4, 2026.
