An absolute holy grail of the Pacific Northwest punk scene, Wipers' Youth Of America is a masterclass in tension, paranoia, and raw sonic power. Moving away from the short, sharp shocks of their debut, frontman and producer Greg Sage stretched the boundaries of underground punk with motorik, driving rhythms and expansive, angular guitar heroics?most notably on the jaw-dropping, ten-minute title track. Sage?s fiercely independent DIY ethos and distinctive, chorus-drenched guitar tone became a massive influence on the 90s alternative explosion (just ask Nirvana). Cut from the original analog master tapes by Jackpot Records, this pressing sounds incredibly punchy and urgent.
