BIG BLACK: Songs About Fucking Vinyl LP
Steve Albini's farewell to Big Black -- thirteen tracks of industrial-strength noise rock that still sounds like an emergency.
Songs About Fucking (1987) is the Chicago trio's second and final full-length, recorded at Southern Studios in London with John Loder (Side A) and in Chicago (Side B). Steve Albini on guitar and vocals, Santiago Durango on guitar, Dave Riley on bass, and a Roland drum machine that does more damage than most human drummers. The Model is a Kraftwerk cover that sounds nothing like Kraftwerk. Colombian Necktie, Bad Penny, Kasimir S. Pulaski Day, and Tiny, King of the Jews are among the defining tracks of Touch and Go's early catalogue. The liner notes credit Albini as endorsing heroin. Remastered in 2018 by Albini and Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.
